Star Wars : The Force Unleashed Tech
Per motivi di tempo (e di hardware inadeguato :asd: ) non ho più seguito molto la scena dei videogame ... però mi è capitato sullo schermo questo tech demo di Star Wars : The Force Unleashed. E devo dire che l'engine grafico che anima i personaggi (Euphoria) è veramente uno spasso! Io ero rimasto alla ragdoll ...
Oltretutto, come spiegato nel video, Euphoria non è l'unico motore usato (ce ne sono tre differenti a seconda dell'oggetto da animare) e quindi sarà stato sicuramente un bel casino interfacciarli tutti e tre in modo che potessero comunicare tra di loro. I risultati sono sorprendenti: tra l'altro, questo motore è usato anche in GTA4. Si parla di sistemi scheletro / muscolari totalmente simulati in tempo reale! Niente animazioni predefinite ...
Crea la favicon per Google
Cos'è una favicon? E'l'iconcina che nei browser moderni compare nella barra indirizzi quando si carica un sito (anche io ho una favicon, risalente all'era della pietra di questo blog). Pare che google stia cercando di stabilire una volta per tutte quale utilizzare, e per questo ha indotto una sorta di "concorso" nel quale tutti possono inviare la loro iconcina. Non si vince nulla, a parte la soddisfazione di sapere che la propria creazione viene visualizzata decine di migliaia di volte al secondo, in ogni schermo, in ogni parte del globo :asd: Vuoi tentare anche tu? Invia la tua favicon a Google (entro il 20 Giugno) e spera di essere giudicato degno di tale onore!
Don’t mess with permalinks
Ok: non è certo una novità che manipolare i permalinks non sia mai una grande idea. Del resto il nome stesso suggerisce il trovarsi di fronte a un qualcosa di sacro e immutabile. Così, similmente ai poveretti che osarono confrontarsi con le reliquie di Tutankhamon, anche io ho avuto sfighe a non finire da quando, con il cambio di hosting, ho deciso di modificare la struttura dei permalinks per nuclearizzare l'odiosissimo index.php che mi tormentava da anni. A dire il vero, se mi fossi limitato a quello, non sarebbe stata una tragedia, perchè in quel caso WordPress è abbastanza intelligente da ridirezionare automaticamente sulla pagina giusta. Ma no, io ho voluto fare il figo, applicare mille nuovi principi di Search Engine Optimization e stravolgere l'intera struttura.
Risultato: un marasma di HTTP 404 in ingresso (e fin qui prevedibilissimo e messo in conto), il vero disastro è stato apprendere che il bot di text-link-ads si è messo in testa che il mio blog era morto e di conseguenza mi ha discontinuato gli advertiser che avevo faticosamente collezionato. Risultato: ho dovuto farmi riapprovare il sito e ripartire praticamente da zero. Chapeau a me stesso!
Keywords : Domande e risposte
E'successa una disgrazia. Per qualche motivo, qualcuno non ha gradito le mie risposte su Yahoo Answers e mi hanno bannato... Mi rendo conto che questo rappresenta un gravissimo smacco per tutte le persone che hanno bisogno del mio insostituibile aiuto. Per questo motivo, armatomi di santa pazienza, ho fatto passare tutte le query da google contenenti domande di persone giunte qui,e mi sono prodigato per rispondere a tutti! Se i dubbi ti si attorcigliano addosso come anaconde, rivolgiti a Vortexmind: lui risponde!!
L’angolo dell’esperto – Chiedi a Google, risponde Vortexmind!
Ormai questo blog è diventato un angolo di qualsiasi cosa. Ma questa volta è per una buona causa. Da quando ho deciso di aderire alla Chiesa di Google, mi sono ripromesso di aiutare la dea Google a risolvere i problemi che i fedeli quotidianamente le pongono. Ho quindi setacciato i referer per trovare le domande che gli internauti pongono per arrivare qui (come è già stato fatto tante volte in passato). Questa volta però tralascerò di commentare le richieste pornografiche (per usare un eufemismo). Ormai sono sempre le solite trite e ritrite. Quindi le ignorerò, anche perchè Google non ama l'impudicizia!
Yahoo!® Site Explorer – Very very Beta
Cercando nuovi metodi per promuovere l'indicizzazione dei miei contenuti, mi sono imbattuto nel servizio Yahoo!® Site Explorer. Ammettiamolo, questa volta me ne sono accorto in ritardo. Il servizio è online già da tempo. Tuttavia non mi sono sorpreso di averlo ignorato, perchè secondo me c'è ancora molto lavoro da fare.
Pagerank checker per i links
Siete interessati a conoscere il pagerank di tutti i link presenti in una pagina? Questo sito (http://www.webmastereyes.com/) vi permette di inserire un URL e di far controllare in maniera molto comoda il pagerank di ogni link presente nella pagina. Nella pratica, la pagina verrà ricaricata ed accanto ad ogni link comparirà il pagerank relativo. Nice, huh?
- Google Adwords Sandbox: this service is intended for adwords publishers, but who says that you can't use it too to improve your ranking?
- Google Sitemaps: this Google feature is not a new, but still many don't know about it. Sitemaps add an XML based description of your website to instruct search engines (Google and Sitemap-compliant ones) how to index your website. It's a sort of powerful robots.txt file. I can say that using Sitemaps on this site slightly improved my SEO ratings and SE indexing responsiveness to new content. If you use CMS software (like wordpress), there are many plugins that automatically create the Sitemap for you, so all you must do is really little work to add this to your site!
